Macaron lovers rejoice! This Thursday (March 20) marks the global celebration of the cute little French pastry – it’s Macaron Day!

Anyone who knows me knows that I ADORE macarons! Yes, I’m the girl that talked her sister into giving macarons out as wedding favours. And I have been known to carry an “emergency” macaron from Bouchon Bakery in my purse as I walk around Las Vegas. Um…at what point does “adoration” become “obsession”?

I’m happy to report that Toronto patisseries are joining in the celebrations. On March 20, customers visiting one of the many participating Toronto patisseries will be offered a FREE macaron (while quantities last). Participating shops will also donate 25% of the day’s macaron sales to the Red Door Shelter.

The Red Door Shelter is a charitable organization that delivers support services to homeless families, abused women and their children throughout the GTA. For almost 30 years, this non-profit has helped thousands of families in their time of need.

This is the 3rd annual Macaron Day Toronto and similar celebrations take place around the world, including Paris, New York, Melbourne, Vancouver and Montreal.

Participating patisseries will reveal their special Macaron Day Toronto flavour(s) on the day of the event. Previous Macaron Day Torontos saw such unique offerings as Black Sesame, Hot Tamale and Popcorn, just to name a few! Personally, I can’t wait to visit some of my favourite shops, not just for the free macaron, but to pick up a few of my favourite flavours! I get to indulge in my favourite sweet treat PLUS support a great cause – what could be better?!
