Weber Q1200 grill
the first nibble:

This past February, Weber Canada invited a bunch of bloggers (including me) to check out their new Weber Grilling Academy and at the end of the evening, the lovely Weber folks gifted us each with our very own Weber Q1200 in our favourite colour (mine was blue!).

I didn’t have time to use my new grill until recently so was very excited to finally have the chance to unbox it, fire it up and grill some big steaks on it!

The Weber Q1200 comes in seven fun colours and is light and portable, but still very sturdy and practical. It would very hand to take camping, to picnics and the beach and or course, tailgate parties.

Just some of the features of the Q1200:
– electronic igniter
– folding work tables on both sides of the grill
– porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates
– built-in lid thermometer

how it works:

The Q1200 has an output of 8,500 BTUs and a total cooking area of 189 square inches. Fueled by a small camping propane tank, the Q1200 burners are easily ignited using the push-button electronic igniter.

am I impressed?

Paul and I were impressed with how fast the Q1200 heated up. Because of it’s small size, it didn’t take long to hit the target temperature and keeping the lid closed on our food meant it cooked up our steaks fairly quickly. It took no time at all to get them to our preferred doneness (medium-rare) and just look at those lovely grill marks!

kitchen regular, under the stairs storage, or recycling bin? under the stairs storage (but only because we have our main BBQ already set up for everyday grilling)

the last bite:

Clean-up was a breeze – I just removed the two grilling grates, gave them a good scrubbing and wash and put the entire grill away for next time.

Although much smaller than the BBQs I’m used to, I loved how easy it was to set up and get going – this would be a very handy grill to tote along with us if we needed a portable grill. Even at home, I was already thinking about the things I could make on the small grill (side dishes, desserts, etc) while the main meats were cooking on our larger BBQ.

It’s also ideal for people that don’t have backyards but are allowed grills on their balconies or terraces. Plus, the colourful options makes this a fun little grill to brighten up any outdoor space.
