kitchen frolic - Eat Like a Local

I am super excited to tell you about a blog post series that I’m starting here on kitchen frolic – ‘Eat Like a Local’!

The whole concept came about from an experience I had a couple of years ago. Paul and I were planning a trip and we were looking for some good places to eat while we were there. Rather than rely on travel guides, I asked my friends. A friend of a friend (who’s a self-proclaimed foodie) had just been there and sent me a list of places she ‘highly recommended’. To my dismay, the list consisted of chain restaurants! Don’t get me wrong – I eat at chain restaurants all the time…when I’m at home, but when I travel, I want to discover new foods and dishes. Luckily, I was able to connect with some resident bloggers who gave me some amazing local recommendations to try out instead.

Now whenever we travel, I try to connect with people who live there or have travelled there extensively (thanks internet!). And this is what the blog series is all about. From hidden dives to mom-and-pop shops to high-end restaurants, the goal is to discover local dishes and eateries – and who better to ask than someone who lives there?

In short – Eat Like a Local is a unique look at good places to eat in various town, cities and countries around the world. This isn’t your usual tour book guide list and it definitely isn’t paid for by any restaurants or tourism boards – this is just a local resident sharing their favourite food recommendations. I hope you’ll enjoy the series!

I’ve already lined up some amazing chefs, writers and bloggers to share their favourite places so I can’t wait to get started. Are you ready to do some arm-chair travelling with me?
